The Project 8 collaboration has demonstrated cyclotron radiation emission spectroscopy (CRES) with single electrons as a new key technology in the field of precision nuclear beta decay spectroscopy. The experiment, located at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA, combines aspects of high-precision magnetic field design and measurement with techniques for ultra-high and ultra-pure vacuum spaces, microwave detection technology, cryogenic design, and cutting edge data acquisition and processing techniques.
